Wow Tom Petty really got it right! The waiting really is the hardest part! We unofficially started this process in October 2013 when I first saw his beautiful face on Reece's Rainbow. November 1st was our first fundraiser (Thirty-One Party) to raise money for agency fees. Now here we are about 26 months later and we have completed countless fundraisers, home study, home study update, USCIS, USCIS update, dossier submission, trip one and registry with the Ministry, USCIS part 2, and now we are waiting for some important numbers to get our court date!!
I naively started this process on hope and faith. I knew in my heart that it would all work out, but I will be lying if I didn't say that this process almost broke me...a few times. It has been hard on my sanity and on my marriage. The day when we found out that we needed to update our home study (even though nothing had changed) in order to extend our USCIS approval dates...and I found out that it would cost $900...I literally ran into my backyard crying like a crazy person. BUT every time there has been a set back, every time we've had to wait longer than we should, every time a large invoice came to my email...God was there! Every Single Time!
So now here we are waiting for the final step and I am at peace knowing that we have worked hard over the past 2+ years. We have met some AMAZING people along this journey. Our marriage was tested and we've come through stronger than ever. So we can wait for a few more weeks, because compared to forever that we are about to have...a few weeks ain't nuttin' :-)
Here are a few pictures that I can share from our trip in July to meet our son. I can't say THANK YOU enough to everyone who has made this moment in time possible. We could never never have done this on our own and we will be eternally grateful for the kindness and generosity that has been shown to us. THANK YOU!!!
Now go listen to some Tom Petty (I am while I am typing this)!!!! And if you feel led, we are still about $5000 short to be fully funded. You can click on the Donate Here button on the right to donate to our Reece's Rainbow FSP. Thank you <3
